Token architecture, shipped components, nothing lost between Figma and production. The system is never the point. The product is. Systemising only counts when customers feel the result. AI is how my systems ship now: agent rules and guardrails that turn a ticket into a reviewed pull request. Hands-on in the code, and used to leading designers and engineers through the change. One contact, the whole system. ### Then I was twelve when I built my first website: Microsoft FrontPage, a stubborn FTP upload, and a view-source habit that turned into PHP and JavaScript. The early web taught me. I grew up in the small design forums of that era, competing in design battles, trading honest feedback. By sixteen I was building sites for real companies, CMS and all, and selling them while I was still at school. At fifteen I made CMS templates configurable, colour schemes and spacing in PHP config files. I didn't have a word for it yet. One-offs annoyed me even then. So I went and studied design. It gave the instinct its craft: typography, spacing, detail. I kept building products the whole way through university. Graphic design never left me, but digital is where I stayed, because digital moves. You change a thing and watch it happen. ### Now One-offs still annoy me. I build foundations: systems that keep working when the next product arrives. Telefónica came first, back when there was no playbook to copy, then BSH, Seven.One and MediaMarktSaturn; right now it's GEMA. I work independently from Dubai and Munich. Most of what I learn goes back out: writing, coaching, tools built for the community rather than for a client. ### Next Design systems are becoming products.
